Centennial Soccer Club

Centennial SC - Club Overview, Who We Are

Our Club

Centennial SC is a community-based not-for-profit 501(c)3 tax exempt youth soccer organization serving communities in the Northeastern suburbs of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.  The club was founded in 1992 as the “Chiefs Soccer Club” by David Lutz before becoming the “Centennial Soccer Club” in 1994 under Randy Lee when the Centennial School District dropped the “Chiefs” name and mascot in favor of the “Cougars”.  .

Centennial SC is affiliated with the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), which is the statewide youth soccer governing body.  We are governed by its bylaws, policies, and requirements.  Centennial SC usually plays league games in the MYSA North District.  The North District encompasses the North Metro Area along Highway 10 to roughly Elk River, north roughly following highway 169 to Grand Rapids, northwest from Grand Rapids to roughly Baudette, and then all point east of this line to Duluth.  Most games are held in the North Metro area and most years we never travel more than an hour from the Lino Lakes area for league games.

The club currently offers a competitive soccer program and fields teams for boys and girls ages 9 – 19.  In 2017, the club began a recreation soccer program to improve its involvement with the community.  Tryouts for the competitive soccer program are typically held at the end of July for the following seasons (Fall and Spring/Summer) per the guidelines of the MYSA.  The Centennial SC serves the cities of Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Lino Lakes, and other surrounding communities.

Our Vision, Mission and Values

Our Vision: To build a meaningful and successful soccer program for the communities of Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Lino Lakes and other local communities  that help to make up the Centennial School District.

Our Mission: To foster the physical, mental, and emotional growth of the Club's participants through the sport of soccer at all age levels and levels of competition.

Our Values:

Players: Develop each player in our organization to their full potential by providing age appropriate technical and tactical training.  This training  will be more technically focused at younger ages and tactically focused at older age levels.  We will strive to prepare our players to  understand the value of hard-work and integrity in their ability to reach a goal.  We want our players to become better players on the  field and better community members off the field.

Families: To provide a family oriented atmosphere that encourages parental  involvement with their player’s soccer experience.  We will be  open and transparent in our communications with the community and with the administration of the club.

Coaches: Our coaches and trainers are vital resources to the success of our  mission at the club.  We will work with our coaches and trainers to provide educational opportunities to help them improve their ability to teach players both soccer and life lessons.  When seeking new coaches or trainers we will only partner with those individuals that share our  values and commitment to the game and the  community.

Community: We support the community by being an inclusive club with a strong emphasis on servant leadership and community involvement.   Our players, families and coaches are asked to practice good citizenship and actively support their local communities.
