FIRST AND FOREMOST, WE ARE PARENTS...LIKE YOU. Each and every one of us. Voting members of the Board of Directors are selected in staggered terms at the Club's Annual General Meeting in October of each year. We volunteer a significant amount of our time, and by extension our families', because we believe in the mission and goals of Centennial SC and are committed to making the Club a safe, challenging, growing and inclusive organization for the area in which we reside. Most of us have a long affiliation with the game. As players, as coaches, as parents, as fans, we know that the sport brings rewards that are far greater than the investment we make to help the organization. And like any group of volunteers running a community non-profit organization, we face challenges and tough decisions. On a continual basis, we make a good faith effort to balance scarce dollars, precious field time, the physical and emotional well-being of all the children who participate, the growth and reward our coaches and trainers get, with the regulations of being an MYSA affiliated Club, the requirements of US Youth Soccer, the realities of the communities we live in and their governmental organizations. We acknowledge that we cannot make perfect decisions and give every single one of our thousands of participants the exact experience they may want. But we can get pretty darn close. And we can strive to get better on a continual basis. Each year we look for new people to join in the leadership of the organization, receive that ball and turn towards our goals. I have been involved with soccer for more than 35 years. From being a player as a kid, a fan watching Minnesota Kicks games at the old Met Stadium, to a college and adult league player, and a coach and father with three daughters who love the game. Prior to coming home to Minnesota in 2007, I served as Secretary and a development director for one of the larger clubs in the Washington, D.C. area. My priorities for the Club are developing and maintaining a strong financial footing to support our excellent programs, broadening our corps of volunteers and ensuring we have excellent representation for all the various constituencies within our larger community. My term expires in 2012.

I have been involved in coaching soccer for the past 13 years. I have coached age groups from U6 all the way to U17 and currently coach my daughter’s U14 C1 team.I hold my Y module and E coaching certificates and stay active in continuous training opportunities. By background, I am a CPA with a degree in Accounting and 25 years of experience in finance. I am currently a Finance Director with Medtronic. My wife, Lisa, manages the team that our daughter plays on, and my son, now 18, has played for a variety of teams. Most of my time has been within the Centennial Soccer Club since moving to the area, and I’ve seen a lot of positive changes over the years and want to be involved to continue to make this a club of choice for the north metro area. My term expires in 2012.

I have played soccer for more than 30 years, starting when I was 5 in California. I played at Burnsville High school and played collegiate soccer at St. Olaf. I still actively play at least one night a week for a club in Hudson. I have coached soccer for the last 10 years and have been with Centennial SC for the last four years. I currently hold a MYSA "E" certificate. I have one daughter who plays for Centennial SC and a son who will be playing soon. I love seeing how far the game has come since I played in high school and college. The skill level of the average player has increased ten fold and this starts at the youth level. I recently was appointed Summer Tournament Committee Chair to investigate Centennial SC hosting a summer tournament. I was elected to the office of Facilities Director in October, 2008, and my term expires in 2012.

I grew up in White Bear Lake and started playing soccer in 8th grade. After playing in high school, and occasional pickup games in college, soccer took a hiatus. Then I was asked to help coach when my children began playing in the Club. Over the years, I have coached well over a hundred Centennial SC players and consider myself lucky to have had this honor. My wife, Pamela, and I are blessed with four children, all of whom have played for Centennial SC. Two are also referees.
In my day job as president of Medicom Digital, I create interactive tools that help explain science in ways that people understand. My main interests involve behavioral risks and health improvement. We know that playing soccer encourages our kids to take up health lifestyles, and it is a sport that they can continue throughout life. My term expires in 2011.

Growing up in what was then more rural Minnesota, our school didn’t have a soccer program and my idea of athletics was racing my dad down the driveway to see who would win. Wow could that guy run on only the heels of his cowboy boots. Many years, and two kids later, we signed our daughter up to try soccer in hopes that maybe this would be the sport (having tried many) that she enjoyed and had some natural talent in. At first, like most children, she said she was no good at it and wanted to quit. Today, both our children play soccer pretty much year round. I’m hopeful that the skills this club has provided them will be used for years to come be it through play, coaching, refereeing or as a member of a soccer club, like me!

I have been involved with Centennial SC for 16 years, watching my three sons play and enjoy the game. I have coached teams in this organization for the past 14 years, and I have seen the club grow in numbers with huge improvement in player and coach development. As a coach in 1994, I was given a team roster and a game schedule and was told 'we hope your season goes well'. Times have changed. I have now been on the Board of Directors for seven years acting first as the U9-U12 Age Group Director and currently as the U13-U19 Age Group Director. I currently hold a USSF Y Module, E Certificate, F License and a D (State) License. Soccer is a great sport that the players can enjoy for many reasons—including just having fun! My term expires in 2012.

I have been playing, coaching, and refereeing soccer for more than 20 years and across 3 continents—so I’ve seen a lot of equipment! Currently, I have three children playing within Centennial SC whom I hope will carry on in my apparently obsessive soccer footsteps. I coach in both the indoor and outdoor programs as needed. I have been the Equipment Director since October, 2007 and my term expires Oct. 2011 (not that I’m counting the days!). My goal is to create a seamless supply of equipment for our membership and volunteers. I am always looking for ways to make equipment provisioning at Centennial SC even better. Please contact me with any suggestions you have to help our players, coaches, and volunteers to have the best equipment experience possible.
